After the 30 minute time limit and they resort to 3 more rolls after counting evryones chips, What scenario would you follow to ensure that you finish one of the top 5 on the table to advance to next round. Would you place everything on the field? or place the numbers and hard ways? The latter would ensure that you will be in the final count if the 'big Nasty' doesn't show up.

The last rolls are important, but where you stand in relationship to the other players is more important.Where are you vs the others? How far ahead or behind are you? When these questions are answered you will know whether you need to be agressive or conservative.
When I play, my play on the last roll is lay bet behind every number and all remaining cheques in the come hedged by a three way craps, hoping for seven out.If a point number rolls then your come bet goes to the number and back to your rack, and you will only lose one lay bet,but if the seven rolls then you win all bets except the three way. This play has been very good to me.If you have to bet on one roll of the dice the seven is the number you want to bet on.By using lay bets on one roll you limit your exposure to one wager, but you can win all of them.
If you are way behind prop bets are your only hope.I saw a guy win on the last roll with his remaining money on the yo.
Winning usually requires luck but playing a tough and conservative game will get you in the money most of the time.
By the way dont make that field bet,it wont return enough to get you on top if you're behind and a non field roll loses your stake.

i've only played in one tournament, and it did not allow proposition bets . That table was ice cold , there had only been 2 points made in 40 minutes . I was tied for 2nd in chips at the last point and bet the minimum DP ($25) with the rest of my stack ( 3800 ) in odds . The second place guy bet $100 on DP and laid 3725 odds when the seven rolled it was his bigger line bet that won it for him ... live and learn .. LOL
